This programme is available for people with type 2 diabetes who need to start insulin. The service provides funding for an initial consultation to start insulin and one follow up appointment.

This programme provides funding for IV iron infusions for patients who meet the PHARMAC special authority criteria for prescribing subsidised ferric carboxymaltose (Ferinject) in the community. The infusion is to be provided in the community by the patient’s general practice

This programme provides funding for contraceptive consultation relating to long acting reversible contraceptives, including administration of Depo Provera, and the insertion of contraceptive implants and IUDs to target populations. Removal of these devices as necessary is also funded.

As part of the Rheumatic fever prevention programme, free throat swabs can be offered to eligible populations with suspected Group A streptococcal throat infections.

This service funds both education and practice costs for the management of ring pessaries
