New primary care quality and performance framework 2026/27

What is the framework?

Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand has developed a new primary care and performance framework. From 1 October, general practices across New Zealand have been working within this framework.

The framework has been agreed through the annual uplift process with input from the Clinical Advisory Group.

Te Whatu Ora will share further information in mid-October, including full data definitions, baselines and how the incentives will work. Once we understand more, we will work with practices to help you maximise funding.
